We hold the Walk for Women's Lives every year. You, our supporters, come to show your concern and commitment to ending violence against women. Your donations and presence send a powerful message that the violence must end, that it will end…and this is the start. Domestic violence and sexual assaults occur in every community and affect us all.

3. Newburyport:

Walk Against Violence

The Women's Crisis Center's four mile Walk Against Violence through Newburyport on Sunday, April 27, is an event for all ages. The event raises funds to allow the non-profit to provide free crisis intervention services to domestic violence victims in nine North Shore communities. Registration opens at 11:00 a.m. and the Walk starts at 1:00 p.m. in Market Landing Park (behind The Firehouse Center). Musical entertainment, clowns, face painting, chair massages, water, and post-walk refreshments are provided. Team and individual prizes, in both adult and youth categories, will be awarded based on paid pledges. "Our Walk Against violence symbolizes the journey away from a life dominated by violence. It is a passage made one step at a time," comments Suzanne Dubus, Executive Director. "Our agency provides crisis intervention, prevention and educational services such as a 24 hour hotline, legal advocacy, emergency shelter, counseling, referrals, as well as workshops and outreach programs."
